Terrified tourists fled as a snowball rolled down, breaking barriers at a scenic spot in southwestern China.

Video filmed in Nyingchi City in Tibet Autonomous Region on March 8 shows terrified tourists screaming and running away as a massive snowball suddenly rolls down a mountainside, crashing through barriers and heading straight towards them.

A visitor shouted, "Come back quickly!" to alert others to the danger.

A spokesperson for the Kadling Gorge scenic area addressed the incident, attributing it to climatic conditions. It's common for snow to accumulate near the waterfall due to slow melting. The snowball, formed from ice accumulated by the waterfall and covered with snow, rolled down unexpectedly.

The spokesperson emphasized that despite its dramatic appearance, the slope was relatively gentle, spanning only a few meters, and did not qualify as an avalanche.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the snowball incident, and operations at the scenic area remain unaffected.

The spokesperson highlighted safety measures in place, including barriers installed in accessible areas to ensure visitor safety. Additionally, staff members are stationed throughout the area to respond promptly to any unforeseen circumstances.

The scenic area pledges to continue strengthening safety protocols to guarantee the well-being of all visitors.
