My Dad was a young married man, fresh out of the U.S. Army. The Army had made him into a Willy's Jeep specialist. He was already a talented mechanic. So when he came home in 1946, he got a job working on cars. Later my parents moved to the larger city of Richmond, Virginia and Dad started working at Jack Richie Motor Company, in 1950, and Dad became the Jeep specialist there. Here is an old 1951 receipt where he bought sockets from Snap-On Tools. The price was tiny compared to now.
