A retired police dog responded to "salute" command while watching a flag raising ceremony on the TV in eastern China.

The video was filmed Yantai City in Shandong Province on February 28.

As the owner tuned into the televised flag raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square, the dog named Max, usually found lazing around, suddenly perked up. With an air of solemnity, the old canine stood tall, his gaze fixed unwaveringly on the screen, as if he could sense the gravity and sanctity of the moment unfolding.

In a poignant moment that left those witnessing it deeply moved, as the command for salute echoed from the television, Max raised his front paws in a gesture that seemed to convey the utmost reverence to the national flag.

According to the owner, Max now enjoying his retirement years, was once a dedicated member of the police force, serving faithfully until his retirement.
