HOW TO MAKE AMAZING PATTY MELTS ON THE BLACKSTONE GRIDDLE - SMASHBURGER STYLE

In this video I'm making a Patty Melt "Smashburger Style" on the Blackstone Griddle.

The Patty Melt is and 'Old School" sandwich that is typically found in Diners and Pubs. Rumor has it it was invented by Restaurateur Tiny Naylor in the 50's or 60's but made popular at celebrity Chef Wolfgang Puck's Granita Restaurant. A classic Patty Melt recipe is grilled Rye Bread, a burger patty, melted Swiss Cheese and caramelised onions. I did my recipe Smashburger style which is a popular cooking method for getting crispy juicy flattened burgers. The Blackstone Griddle is a portable Griddle/flat top great for using on your back deck or in the backyard.

80/20 Ground Chuck or Beef (for maximum juiciness)
Sliced Swiss Cheese
Rye bread (don't skimp on quality)
Onions
Mushrooms (optional)
Seasoning Salt of your choice or salt & pepper
Cooking Oil
Mayo or Butter (I used Mayo)
