Sir Frances Drake Statue Plymouth Hoe Ocean City
The statue and memorial to Sir Francis Drake on the Promenade. Drake was famously playing bowls on the Hoe near here when he sighted the Spanish Armada sailing to invade. The statue was erected in 1884. The sculptor was J E Boehm. The statue is still (2011)there although the area around it has changed. He was a thief and vagabond. The Queen turned a blind eye to his piracy. Because of the money he brought in. Chris Summerfield video and photography since 1992. LOVE SummerTime TV Magazine Worldwide
