The film uses Afrocentric references in clothing and hair. Grier starred in six blaxploitation films for American International Pictures. While not prosecuted for obscenity the film was seized and confiscated in the United Kingdom under section 3 of the Obscene Publications Act 1959 during the video nasty panic.[4]
