Kotaro "Taro" Arai's journey began on Kyushu, the southernmost island of Japan. His family moved to America funded by the savings from his newspaper delivery job.

In 1987, Taro's family established a humble Japanese eatery in Fair Oaks, named Mikuni. Now, 37 years later, Mikuni celebrates a significant milestone with nine branches and a workforce of 1,000 employees, marking it as one of the most prosperous restaurant chains in Northern California. Moreover, it has contributed more than $3.1 million to local charities, showcasing its commitment to community support.

Taro has also shared his journey and insights through co-authoring two books: *Abundance: Finding the American Dream in a Japanese Kitchen* and *Appreciation: Honoring Those Who Have Blessed My Life*, reflecting on his experiences and the impact of those around him
