CRITICAL ROT: Rotten Tomatoes and the failure of the aggregate review system.

Since the very first moment someone created art I’m sure there was someone standing nearby ready to give their critical assessment of it. Whether that be a particular facial expression, the amount of applause, a thumb up or down, a certain number of stars and, yes, consensus of the masses. But it's only fairly recently that a supposedly objective metric has been determined to be the final arbiter of what is good and what is bad.

I’ve never been a fan of the Rotten Tomatoes model of film criticism. The website’s assessment of art lacks nuance, understanding and, critically, emotion. How can a percentage convey any of that when it comes to art?

View Thunder episodes are designed with:

1) A Spoiler-Free review of the film up front.
2) Followed by a quick rundown and review of the Physical Media.
3) A Spoiler-Section with further analysis of my favorite parts of the film.

So if there is an episode for a film you haven't seen yet, rest assured that the first part of each episode will not ruin it for you. Once you've seen the movie come back and watch the rest of the review!

Thank you for tuning in!
