Crested Caracara also known as "The Mexican Eagle" and our American symbol, the Bald Eagle. As you can see, the Crested Caracara is in the falcon family and is a bird of prey. The northern Caracara was possibly the sacred "eagle" depicted in several pre-Columbian Aztec codices. They have even been sited in Northern Minnesota and I am pretty sure that would mean they have been seen in Wisconsin, my home State. The Bald Eagle is by far the most majestic of birds, at least in appearance and associate as our American symbol, I always enjoy seeing them. 3/5/24 Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, Florida
