Michigan’s Upper Peninsula State Parks are leading the state, and nation, in new ways to help sustain the health of our parks and waters.
Isle Royale National Park, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and Keweenaw National Historical Park, along with one in Minnesota and Wisconsin, will be the first in the nation to decarbonize operations of Lake Superior’s national parks.
Air source heat pumps, utilizing solar power, and getting away from gas-powered equipment, are the first of the new road map for operations within the parks.
