Elon Musk has expressed his support for transforming OpenAI into a for-profit entity, according to the creator of ChatGPT.

This revelation comes as a counteraction to a lawsuit filed by the affluent investor, who alleges that the artificial intelligence company has forsaken its original mission to serve humanity in favor of prioritizing financial gains.

In its initial response following the legal action initiated by the Tesla CEO last week, OpenAI declared its intention to vigorously contest the claims and unveiled emails from Musk.

This move has intensified the ongoing dispute between the San Francisco-based company and the billionaire who played a crucial role in funding its establishment several years ago.

“The mission of OpenAI is to ensure AGI benefits all of humanity, which means both building safe and beneficial AGI and helping create broadly distributed benefits,” OpenAI said in a blog post late Tuesday. “We intend to move to dismiss all of Elon’s claims.”

AGI, or artificial general intelligence, pertains to general-purpose AI systems capable of excelling in a broad spectrum of tasks, potentially matching or surpassing human performance, ABC 7 New York reported.
