Unfortunately, what was meant to be a progressive move for gender equality ended up sparking backlash and accusations of virtue signaling.

Many fans argued that the decision to include female players in a traditionally male-dominated sport was an unrealistic and pandering attempt to be politically correct. Critics also pointed out that the move came across as insincere, especially considering the lack of representation for women in the actual MLB.
