Maude Fealy: The Most Photographed Actress

Maude Fealy (1881? - 1971) was born in Memphis, TN and rose to great heights on the stages of Colorado and London. Her tutelage under Sir Henry Irving (1838-1905), E. S. Willard (1853-1915) and William Gillette (1853-1937) established a strong comic Shakespearean presence. Founding her own acting schools and the Fealy-Durkin acting company, Fealy toured around the United States several times. A lifelong friend of Cecil B. DeMille, DeMille came to Fealy's rescue in later life after three failed marriages.
