Tightening up a Table: Trials, errors and perseverance

I'm not a woodworker, or a furniture repair guy, but I did enjoy trying to get this table pedestal in better shape than it started out. It was loose and shaky, and missing the original casters, so it needed some additional height. In the end I made some improvements, and learned some useful things. But afterward I did some searching on YouTube for legit furniture repair guys, and this channel came up:
