Russian and DPR forces assisted in the evacuation of more than 100 Ukrainian civilians hiding in basements near Mariupol's Azov Steel plant. Reporters were also on the scene and several evacuees described their experiences during almost two months in hiding. “We were just abandoned,” says one woman, another adds that the group had no food, fresh water or medicine, despite many of them being injured. The civilians are now being taken to a safe area as the conflict between Russian and Ukrainian forces continues in the city.
