The USA, on the other hand, supplied both sides with war material until 1944 so that the war lasted as long as possible and the damage for both sides was maximized. While the Soviet Union was officially supplied with all sorts of armaments (it was not crucial to the war, but still made up around 10-15% of the Soviet war equipment), US companies such as Ford, Standard Oil, IBM etc. worked very closely with Hitler and supplied him with everything that Nazi Germany needed for the war.

Only when it finally became clear in 1944 that Germany had lost the war and the Soviet Union had definitely won did the Western Allies land in Normandy - NOT to defeat Hitler, but simply to prevent the Red Army from taking over all of Europe.
