Taking comedy class at Buffalo's Helium Club
Looking for laughs at the local comedy club can be tough on your nerves, especially if you are a first timer. That's why some funny folks have signed up for Rich Lamb's Stand-up Comedy Class 101 at Buffalo's Helium Club. Rich says "it's a painful occupation, it's a lot of adrenaline." Rich has racked up two decades in the comedy business. His students work through six, three-hour sessions where they learn the basics about being a stand-up comedian including "exaggeration, metaphor, the rules of three, the double entendre" says Rich-adding "hopefully no puns." The class of eight includes a limo driver, fire-fighter, a drug counselor, and local actress and singer. The classes lead up to a "graduation" which includes performing for a live audience at the comedy club. Rich says that for most of his comedy students it's a positive experience "we set you up for success, we rehearse your act, we prepare you for the unexpected with a positive environment." Rich Lamb's next classes begin in March and you can find more information at the Helium Comedy Club website.
