Milky Way

The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy that contains our solar system. It is home to billions of stars, including our sun, and an immense amount of cosmic dust, gas, and dark matter. The Milky Way spans an estimated diameter of about 100,000 light-years and is part of a group of galaxies known as the Local Group, which also includes the Andromeda Galaxy and about 54 other smaller galaxies.
