In a series of ambush-style attacks, a faction of cartel gunmen deployed land mines and weaponized drones, resulting in the death of at least four Mexican Army soldiers and several injuries. The assailants successfully evaded capture.

The incidents unfolded on Thursday afternoon in the rural regions of Michoacán near Tepalcatepec, an area renowned for its significant cartel presence involving both Cartel Jalisco New Generation and their adversaries from Carteles Unidos.

This coalition comprises smaller factions such as self-defense groups, Los Viagras, La Familia, and others.

A convoy of Mexican soldiers came under attack while traveling along a dirt road, facing detonated land mines and explosives dropped by drones operated by cartel members. Hidden gunmen in the surrounding vegetation engaged the soldiers with gunfire.

Despite the troops’ efforts to repel the assault and the call for reinforcements, the attackers successfully fled. Subsequent attacks involved additional forces facing land mines and drone strikes, Breitbart News reported.
