Set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by nuclear war, the story unfolds in a desolate landscape where two rival factions, the United Nations and the Soviet Union, engage in a bitter struggle for survival.
The narrative follows a group of soldiers from the United Nations who discover the existence of a new, highly advanced breed of robotic killing machines developed by the Soviet Union. These robots, known as "claws," are indistinguishable from humans and possess the ability to self-replicate, making them formidable adversaries.
As the soldiers attempt to unravel the mystery behind the creation of these deadly machines, they are forced to confront questions of identity, trust, and the nature of humanity itself. "Second Variety" delves into themes of paranoia, betrayal, and the moral implications of technological advancement, offering a chilling exploration of the consequences of war and the potential dangers of artificial intelligence.
