There are literally hundreds of commentaries on Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. The disputes over how to interpret Paul are many. Most scholars work from one of four major interpretive perspectives: Reformational, the New Perspective, Apocalyptic, and Participationism. Others talk about Paul as being viewed from three different Protestant views, a Catholic view and a Jewish view. While all these views make some valid points, I think they miss the point of Paul’s Epistle to the Romans when they don’t recognize the structure of the letter as that of a logical argument in defense of the Gospel. This study is focused on looking at this letter in light of that structure.
