Why is Rachel Reeves sitting in the loo lying about how the economy works?

Labour's chancer of a Shadow Chancellor thought this looked good in another article where a politician lie about national economics.
Right, so it looks like Labour’s shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves has just had her Liz Truss photoshoot moment, having unwisely agreed to be photographed in what looks like the tiled surrounds of a public toilet, just less graffiti and water on the floor. But this was all part of a puff piece in the rabidly Tory supporting Daily Telegraph, which on it’s own should sound alarm bells, which is entitled by a quote from Reeves saying ‘My mum showed me how to balance the books from the kitchen table’. Well if that is how you plan to balance the nations books, then we’re all in trouble, but as this article demonstrates, if she’s happy to run to the Tory press, if she’s happy to continue to perpetuate the decades old Tory lie that the national budget is like a household budget, then we’re very much in the territory of it walks like a Tory and quacks like a Tory, then it’s a Tory.
Right, so Rachel Reeves, Labour’s hypernasal self proclaimed ‘iron chancellor’ in waiting, having dropped the green chancellor moniker at last it would seem, given she cheerily binned Labour’s £28bn green prosperity plan, was it would seem more than happy to chat to the Torygraph all about her, though she wasn’t alone at the time, as at the time she was being interviewed she was again joined at the hip by Starmer himself, he does tend to need his hand held by somebody to get him through the day. But he feature here, this was all about the Torygraph selling Labour’s Red Tory values to Tory readers, something we know Starmer and Co are more than happy to do, chasing those Tory votes as they are. Waste of time as we know that is, they’d rather at home and not vote at all than vote any way other than Tory and this Tory government corrupt as it is, is turning them off.
But anyway, it was just the mass of dishonesty that you might expect from a Tory B Team, as well as the associated photoshoot being utterly hilarious, not just because of what Reeves thought looked strong and stable, but what the public thought and have indeed done with said photo’s afterwards.
The main one people have had fun with is this one. Sitting in what very much looks like a lavatory, though the point she was trying to get at, was that austerity is one of the reasons we’re in the position we’re in, the starkness of her surroundings is an analogy to what has happened to our country, and at that I thought, well, you’ve just axed your flagship green policy, you keep bleating you won’t spend on this, won’t spend on that, Starmer jokes he struggles to get plans signed off, other shadow ministers as they draw up their plans ahead of the election are grumbling she keeps saying no to them, so if she won’t fund anything, surely what we’re looking at here, is an example not just of what has happened so far, but what is to come to pass.
Sitting there, in whatever that tiled surrounding was, Reeves was told would look good and she fell for it.Show more
