About Darrius:

Darrius Garrett is a co-New York Times Bestselling Author of the book "The Freedom Writers Diary," first released in 1999 and then later made into a movie entitled "Freedom Writer" in 2007, where; the character "Marcus" is about him and the stories he penned in the Book of his friend killing himself in front of him as a kid as well as a story of dealing with Homelessness during his time as a student & Freedom Writer in High School. Darrius is also an actor and has been on shows like The Kroll Show on Comedy Central and Operation Repo on truTV and has been featured in numerous music videos from artists like rapper Common, pop singer Lights, Snoop Dogg, and Rixton.

What is Darrius currently doing and why?

Darrius Garrett's most genuine passion is being a motivational speaker and reaching out to youth that has encountered many of the things that he experienced before the age of 16, like Homelessness, burying over 35 friends and family members, selling drugs at a young age, being profiled & arrested or dealing with mental health issues like PTSD, depression & anxiety. He feels so accountable for the times that he was trying to ignore the call to be a public figure and simply live the "Normal" working 9-5 type of lifestyle to support his family.

In contrast, he always felt in his mind that he wasn't fulfilling his lifes purpose and simply turning his back on the youth of today. During this time, Darrius found himself constantly hearing about suicides, mass shootings, and street violence feeling like he's not doing anything about it; when he should be. Therefore, he answered the call and accountability to begin doing something by sharing his story to educate, encourage, and inspire youth & millions worldwide.
