There are two species within the rock rooster genus. Among these, the Andean rock rooster has become the national bird of Peru due to its popularity. There is also the Guyanese rock rooster and it lives in the tropical rainforests of South America. The rock rooster is in the class of perching birds and is medium-sized with a length of approximately 30 cm.
