10th In our series the Prophet Micah

I. Micah’s Opponents - Micah 2:6
* A. They tell Micah and other prophets of the Lord to stop prophesying
* 1. The literal word is to drip taken from - Deuteronomy 32:1-2
* 2. The rebuke from the Lord is rejected by those who don’t want to hear prophecy
* a. The irony of those rebuking the prophet, is they are telling him to stop rebuking
* b. Micah was not alone in being told to stop prophesying - Isaiah 30:9-11
* c. Amos is labeled a traitor - Amos 7:10-13
* B. Sinful men do not like having sin pointed out - Isaiah 56:10
* 1. They do not want to be called to repentance
* 2. They do not want the Word of God applied to themselves
* 3. They want a soft and easy message - Micah 2:11
* 4. We should not expect to be treated differently - Revelation 11:7-10
* C. God will give them their evil desires, a famine - Amos 8:11

II. The Character and Nature of God - Micah 2:7
* A. Is anything too hard for God?
* 1. Men foolishly think that God will not judge the wicked in this world
* 2. They falsely believe God either to be blind or unjust
* B. The Word of  God brings great blessing to those who obey
* 1. The laws of the Universe cannot be broken
* 2. The fool is broken by those laws which he violates
* 3. Disciples of Jesus are called to proclaim the Word of the Lord to a lost and dying world regardless of the response
