Traffic stop for minor vehicle code violation turns into shooting with wanted felon

February 13, 2024 - Shortly before 1 AM this morning, two Modesto Police Officers were involved in a shooting in the area of Paradise Road and S. Martin Luther King Drive after encountering an armed subject during a traffic stop.

During the incident, a firearm was recovered at the scene. Thankfully, neither of the officers were injured. The suspect was shot and is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.

Charges: Mark Coke Jr. will be charged with attempted murder of a police officer, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and an outstanding domestic violence warrant.
