Rafah vigilante group ensures traders keep goods affordable

A group of young men in Rafah, in southern Gaza, have taken it upon themselves to patrol local markets, confronting vendors who take advantage of food shortages to charge extortionate prices.

The group call themselves the Popular Protection Committee, and they reportedly cooperate with the local police force to weed out exploitation and price gouging in the area. Footage filmed on Thursday shows the group patrolling the market armed with batons and assault rifles, checking various vendor prices.
