Heavy police presence at church for Navalny ceremony

Police have been on patrol since early Friday morning (March 1) outside the church of "Sooth my Sorrows" where a farewell ceremony for Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is expected to be held. Tension is high ahead of his funeral because the authorities have outlawed his movement as extremist and cast his supporters as U.S.-backed troublemakers out to foment revolution. Previous gatherings of his supporters have been broken up by force.
