Deputies sent domestic violence suspect to meet his maker after he shot at them with tactical rifle

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:41 p.m., deputies assigned to the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded to the 26300 block of Jepson Court in Hemet for a report of a physical altercation between family members where a female had sustained injuries.
Deputies arrived at the residence and contacted the suspect at the front door. The suspect was uncooperative and shut the door. While deputies were outside attempting to contact the involved parties, the suspect fired at them with an assault rifle from within the residence. The suspect then exited the residence wearing body armor and armed with the assault rifle. He fired at deputies a second time and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The adult female victim was located at the residence and treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene. No deputies were injured during this incident.
