A judge in Illinois, Tracie Porter of Cook County, has determined that Donald Trump should be removed from the primary ballot in the state, pending a decision from the Supreme Court on whether states can bar him from candidacy.

The Supreme Court is currently deliberating on Trump’s eligibility to run for president, particularly in the aftermath of the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

Judge Porter temporarily suspended her ruling until Friday to allow time for an appeal, acknowledging that her decision is not final as higher courts still need to weigh in.

In a historic move in December, the Colorado Supreme Court utilized Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump from running for president, marking the first instance of this provision being invoked for such a purpose, the U.S. Sun reported.
