PINTO AND X: OVERLAPPING VISIONS AND FATES

Fifty-nine years ago, two Pan-African greats were taken from us. Kenya’s freedom fighter Pio Gama Pinto and Black civil-rights legend Malcom X were assassinated within the space of just three days, in February 1965. African Stream’s Sefu Sanni visited a memorial gathering at the former’s grave in Nairobi - and relates what other fascinating connections existed between the two icons, who are inspirations to this day.
