Distractions

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24

God’s people are distracted, easily distracted, by all sorts of things. Things that are not necessarily bad, but nevertheless, things that are of little eternal value. Phones, movies, internet, sports, partying.

In our text, we read that we cannot serve both God and mammon. That word mammon is often defined money, but it is more accurately described as things.

In this message, Pastor Kemble challenges God’s people to take introspection, and challenges the people of God to seek Him first, before, and above, all else, as we are charged to do just a few verses down from our text, in verse 33:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Don’t get distracted. Don’t worry about the stuff. Don’t get caught up in things. Seek after God. You will have everything you need if you will simply put Him first.
