In this interview with Israeli ambassador Daniel Taub, Lord Jacob Rothschild discusses his cousin Dorothy’s crucial role in what he calls the ‘miracle’ of the Balfour Declaration, her advice on the organization of the Zionist Conference, and how she taught Chaim (Charles) Weizmann, a would-be scientist from the East, how to integrate and insert himself into British establishment life.

He also talks about his eccentric uncle Walter, the 2nd Lord Rothschild, to whom the then foreign secretary Lord Arthur Balfour wrote the letter known as The Balfour Declaration, where he expressed "sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations" on behalf of the British Government.
