Elder Justin Broby -

Sermon Notes & Bible Verses
The Doctrine of Scripture (Hebrews 4.12)
Historic Views of the Bible and What We Believe Is True About the Bible:
1. The Bible Is Inspired (2 Timothy 3.16-17)
Logos - Word, usually written. Literally "I am speaking"
Rhema - Word, usually spoken. Literally "I have spoken and am now speaking again"
(2 Peter 1.19-21) (1 Corinthians 2.10-13) (John 14.24-26) (John 16.12-15) (Ephesians 1.17)
2. The Bible Is Inerrant (Perfect) - (Proverbs 30.5) (Psalm 12.6) (Psalm 18.30)
3. The Bible Is Infallible (Trustworthy - (John 17.17) (Luke 16.17) (Psalm 119.151)
Inerrant vs. Infallible
Inerrant - Incapable of being wrong, (perfect)
Infallible - Incapable of failing, (trustworthy)
4. The Bible Is Effective (Isaiah 55.9-11) (Philippians 2.13) (Matthew 4.4) (1 Peter 1.23)
5. The Bible Is Authoritative (Matthew 5.17-18) (Psalm 119.89) (1 John 4.1)
Warnings:
1. Make sure your heart is submitted to Scripture
2. Be careful what "lenses" you bring to Scripture
3. Anyone trying to get your focus off Scripture is trying to get you to worship something besides God
(John 1.1-5) (Rev 19.10) (Genesis 1.3) (2 Peter 3.5)
(Hebrews 4.12)
