Samsung’s newest wearable, the Galaxy Ring, is set to debut with health-tracking functionalities, encompassing features such as heart rate and sleep monitoring.

Additionally, users will receive a daily readiness score, according to a senior executive at Samsung who spoke with CNBC.

In an extensive interview, Hon Pak, the head of Samsung Electronics’ digital health team, delved into various aspects, including the company’s initial venture into the ring product category, contemplations about a subscription model for the Samsung Health app, and his vision for an artificial intelligence “coach.”

The Galaxy Ring was initially teased by Samsung in January during the launch event for the S24 smartphone.

Now, the South Korean tech giant is unveiling the device for the first time at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, commencing on Monday.

Pak mentioned that the ring, equipped with sensors, will have the capability to provide readings on various health metrics, including heart rate, respiratory rate, the level of movement during sleep, and the duration it takes for an individual to fall asleep once in bed.

He also said the ring will be able to give a user a “vitality score” which “collects data about physical and mental readiness to see how productive you can be,” CNBC reported.
