SHREVEPORT, La. – From the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border to crime in Louisiana and wars around the world, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson held nothing back as he opened up to KTBS 3 News during his visit to Northwest Louisiana over the weekend.

Johnson: “I’ll tell you what, what began as a crisis is now an actual catastrophe and everybody in the country knows that. The president and Secretary Mayorkas, who we actually impeached, as you know, did this by design. This is a series of executive actions that were taken, beginning on the day Joseph Biden took the Oval Office. He issues two executive orders that day and continued. We documented 64 of them. They intentionally opened the border wide and so the results are just absolutely devastating.”

Most metrics show former President Donald Trump leads Biden by a wide margin on the border issue – so much so that some have suggested there is a delay taking place to leave the border issue unsolved until Trump gets back in office.

Beimfohr asked Johnson if there was any substance to those suggestions.

Johnson: “No, I met with President Trump in Florida on Monday this week and we talked about this and I told him we have a moral, constitutional and legal obligation to solve this problem and stem that flow. And he agreed with that. So, he and I both are convinced Joe Biden is either unwilling or unable to fix it. So, he’ll (Trump) ultimately have to do it when he gets re-elected. But I have a job to do between now and then and we’re gonna do that job.”
