She explains that even though the agave sap is high in sugar it also contains healthy fibers like fructans. She talks about the traditional processing of agave syrup and how this process breaks down the fructans into fructose which is harmful to the liver and can increase belly fat. Lastly, Dr. Janine shares that agave is also used to make tequila and some interesting facts about what to look for when purchasing tequila.
