Protesting farmers drive tractors through Madrid

A convoy of about 100 tractors snaked through the center of the Spanish capital on Monday (February 26), disrupting traffic as 5,000 protesters marched alongside them, according to attendance figures provided by the national government. Santi, a 62-year-old potato farmer waving the regional Basque flag, said the government needed to pressure Brussels to ensure that products from outside the EU met the same sanitary conditions as European ones.
