We The People's Family Nurse Practitioner, Natalie Iverson, explains the difference between traditional medicine and DPC. The advantage of DPC is that it removes insurance middlemen, thereby eliminating dictated reimbursements depending on the level of care given, as experienced in traditional medicine with programs like Medicare, Medicaid, or even private HMOs and PPOs. Natalie also illustrates the time constraints experienced in traditional medicine practice, where doctors have approximately 12 minutes per patient visit, a situation necessitated by the requirement to see up to 30 patients a day to maintain operations.
