Reflections on the Landmark Civil Trial Actioned by QPS and QAS workers - 10 June 2022
These were my reflections on 10 June 2022 after sitting through the final day of closing arguments in the landmark civil trial actioned by more than 60 police officers and a dozen ambulance and health care workers.
They are arguing they shouldn't be required to choose between receiving Covid vaccinations and their jobs.
A judgement will finally be handed down tomorrow, 27 February 2024 in the Queensland Supreme Court by Justice Martin.
Queensland’s police commissioner, Katarina Carroll, announced her resignation last Tuesday.
This landmark trial began on 30 May 2022!
Below is what I posted on 10-06-2022.
"Summary of proceedings in Courtroom 5 at the Brisbane Supreme Court. Today was the conclusion of court action for more than 70 Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) staff who have refused to comply with their employer's directives, and are testing the legality of the policies in the Supreme Court, arguing they are unjust or an improper exercise of power. The judge will now take time to consider and make his ruling in this landmark case."
