There's no denying that a person's weight is directly influenced by the number of calories they consume in food and drink: When you eat the same amount of calories that your body expels over time, your weight will remain constant. When you eat more than your body expels, you gain weight. Less means less weight. But what about the kind of calories? Does it really matter if they originate from protein, fat, or carbohydrates? particular foods—potato chips or complete grains? certain diets, such as the "Twinkie" diet or the Mediterranean diet?
