This passage is one of the most marginalised passages in the entire Bible. Many pastors and Bible scholars do all they can to avoid taking it at face value, opting for safe interpretations. The majority of Christians lack a supernatural view of Scripture and of life. We read about the supernatural dimension, angels, demons, etc., yet we go about our day as if the supernatural world is not as ‘real’ as depicted in Scripture. The church is bending under the weight of its own rationalism, leaning toward a scientific model of life rather than viewing Scripture within its context.
