I've been wrong about each time I made a kneejerk assumption. Regardless of how many times I warn myself not to do so. Clip from Trail Cam Captures: Bun, Birds and I forget. With big caption FLYING BUG IN WINTER? At least I've stopped calling and emailing people.

Freaky warm winter. Ok. Maybe some bugs (like some trees budding w/o clue) can wake up, too. During the few hours of day when it's above 40 at least. Then HOW can this one ... dragonfly? ... be alive and moving at 18F?
Tap, tap ... some insects (barring Arctic fleas) can be out there in winter. Like small midges or things all in ponds. Time to load this up and slow it down if that helps. Happily was HD and all becomes clear. Boy, I iz so smarty sometymes yet the Dunce Hat is kept close. It was all about the kind of bug and how it was surviving w/o one second considering the options again.
