Police officers and K-9 units were looking for a man who shot and killed another man in a Newport, Kentucky home Saturday night, according to Police Chief Tom Collins. The gunman shot John Hayward three times at about 10:30 p.m. in a home on Lindsey Street, Collins said. First responders took the man to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he later died. Collins said Newport and Covington police officers were searching for the gunman in a half-mile radius from the home Saturday night. The gunman and the victim knew one another. Police aren’t sure what led up to the shooting, but Collins said it was not a random act of violence.
