The full meeting of the Fairfield County Commissioners' weekly meeting for February 20, 2024.

The meeting began with a Listen & Learn from Tony Vogel of Utilities and Development.

Public Comments started at 15:25 and ran through 46:00. Ray Stemen of Lancaster, talked about the Holy Bible being the greatest history book and revelations on what is to come. Ray concluded his remarks with Christian prayer.

Ralph Hedrick, Amanda Township Trustee read through a resolution from his township on excluding Industrial Solar and presented a copy to the Commissioners.

Beth Cottrell of Protect Amanda Township thanked Mr. Hedrick for the resolution and how that was the will of the majority of people in Amanda Township. https://www.facebook.com/groups/519636629772493/

Doug Leith, Walnut Township Trustee, talked of his personal experiences with being approached as a farmland owner by Industrial Solar and real-world concerns with drainage issues.

Judy Stemen of Lancaster spoke about the problems relating to how the law is disregarded in some cases, while being weaponized in others against the citizens.

Sherry Pymer of (Walnut Township) spoke on how owners are being approached by other companies in addition to solar to sell their prime farmland for other development. She went on to urge the Commissioners to act now to stop further expansion of Industrial Solar and in related information on how the BIA is pressuring the state legislature to remove local zoning control! https://citizensforfairfields.org/

Stephanie Taylor of Habitat for Humanity gave an update. https://www.habitat.org/

Lastly, Don Keller, Liberty Township Trustee asked help from the Commissioners on how to handle the concerns his citizens are asking him about relating to Industrial Solar.

The remainder of the meeting were items related to the regular County Administrative Update(s) and the commission's "voting pattern".

Also, the Commissioners went into Executive Session and an adjournment announcement was posted to the online chat.
