In "Cannon Fodder" we play the role of a team of soldiers whose main task is to exterminate enemy forces. The isometric projection allowed for controlling the battlefield, soldiers and the sight. The game is divided into stages, after which our heroes advance. It was every player's dream to keep the original team of Stoo, Jools, Jops and RJ alive. Unfortunately, it was a futile effort, because the game, contrary to appearances, was not as easy as it seemed.

At that time, the game also caused controversy related to the poppy that appeared on the game's cover.
The British Royal Legion expressed its objection because it is a symbol of World War I veterans and they did not agree to linking the game "Cannon fodder" with this fact. The symbol was removed from the box, but remains in the game, and is preceded by the words "Sensible Software is not affiliated with the Royal British Legion"

'Cannon fodder Amiga intro music' has been looped into an hour long set, for those who like to listen to music over and over... as we used to do in "those days".
