The Tragedy of Susan Powell and Her Boys - Familicide Pt 2

How do you kill another human being, let alone your own family member?

What kind of mental derangement do you have to be in to do that?

Clearly, now that we have the ability to review Josh Powell's actions before he killed (assumingly) his wife, Susan, and then murdered his two little boys with a hatchet, then burned himself and the two boys to death, we know least what his mindset was.

Such is the Powell Family Tragedy.

Josh Powell, the father, was a psychopath. But like most psychotics, he was able to hide his behavior from all but the closest to him. Sadly, his wife Susan knew what he was capable of and literally made notes and videos to her loved ones stating that if anything ever happened to her it was Josh that had killed her.

Then, on a cold December night in Utah, Josh Powell took his two young boys camping in the desert West of Salt Lake City - which no sane person would ever do. Not surprisingly, Susan disappeared at about that same time.

We all know what likely happened to her. Josh killed Susan in a rage, probably because he was losing control of Susan and his own circumstances, and then buried her somewhere in the desert.

Within weeks of Susan disappearing Josh moved himself and his two young boys up to the Seattle area, where the State of Washington removed the boys from Josh's custody and ordered him to undergo a psychosexual evaluation.

A short time later he killed his boys and blew himself up.

Anne Bremner and Evan Bariault are attorneys who have been fighting to get justice for Susan, her two young boys, and Susan's parents for over a decade. They join us to tell this tragic tale in a way that only those who are intimately involved with the case can.
