Shiena Mae lives in the Kagawasan Guihulngan City, Philippines, she is from the tribe of Bisaya, and her family makes purses, bags, rugs, baskets, etc for generations. Living in the USA, I take things for granted, we walk in a store and take something from a shelf and purchase it. The items she makes is all by hand and she goes into the woods and literally cuts the leaves, splices them and dries them, braids them, some are dyed for color and they make them. A large basket could take her 2 hours and she sells them for 2 for 800 peso, which is about 14 dollars american. A bag of rice to feed her church is roughly 2300 peso about 53 american dollars.
