On Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams disclosed that he has an alternative plan for an NYPD robot that has been in storage at the Times Square subway station since the conclusion of its two-month trial period last fall.

However, he refrained from providing details about his intended use for the robot.

“We have another plan. I want to do with the [Knightscope] K5, I don’t want to roll it out yet,” Adams said during his weekly off-topic news conference. “But we still see a use in robotics and technology, I’m a big believer in this. We have to really see, ‘how do we use robotics and technology to run our city more efficiently?”

The NYPD has opted to remove the Knightscope K5 patrol robot from its patrol duties, concluding its pilot stage prematurely within the New York City subway system, PoliticsNY reported.
