926
Historian Bryan D. Palmer talks about his extensive study of central labor union militant and later party organizer and speaker James P. Cannon who helped found the US Socialist Workers Party in the 1930's. Cannon happened to find a draft of Trotsky's criticism of Stalin's program in a trash barrel at a conference in Moscow in 1927 and thought Trotsky was right, and Stalin was wrong. In the US Cannon opposed the Stalinist Communist Party.
